More Money, More Problems

Even though most money transactions seem to be digital these days, there are still those holdouts. People use cash for emergency transactions, to give their credit cards a rest, and because they just like the feel of paper leaving their wallets (anyone else?).

And, everyone knows that counting the cash drawer is one of the most tedious aspects of closing up every night. Thankfully, we just made that step easier for you. Counting the cash drawer is now easier and intuitive, so anyone can do it. Now, if only we could make those credit card fees go away…

Watch the video below to see exactly how our cash count function works.

The Slow Season: The Best Time to Test and ReTool

You may be thinking that summer is the best time of year for your trampoline park or family entertainment center, but how much would you like being busy every moment of every day of your life? We need sleep, guys.

And even though you may be wandering around your park and thinking of pulling in people off the street, restrain yourself and keep reading. We have a few reasons why you may love this time of year after all.

The Slow Season

A slow season is a great time to re-calibrate. When we’re busy, we often react to issues and problems. We don’t have time to think or analyze. This can feel like we’re getting plenty done, but is it being done well? Nobody wants to feel like a short-order cook.

In fact, taking time to analyze why you’ve done things a certain way is the best way to illuminate what you’re doing right, and what you can fix. This is the time to check in with employees, ask questions, and test theories you were too busy to try before.

It’s a great time to update your website too. Make sure your hours are listed, and the phone number links correctly so people can click and call when they find your site on their mobile devices. Also, check to make your location is clear and your photographs look professional. If they don’t, it’s a good time to update them.

If your sad old point of sale system is barely limping along, it’s time for an upgrade. The last think your business needs is an out-of-date system that crashes or doesn’t work properly. Your birthday party booking software should make your life easier, not harder. Plus, did you know that Active8 can help streamline your entire system?

Keep yourself busy, test theories, reorganize, and ask your employees what they think could be improved. If you’re ready to upgrade your family entertainment center point of sale system, well, we can help with that. Call us at 1 (888) 500-2618 to learn more and schedule a demo today.

How to Photograph your Trampoline Park (For Ads, Websites, and Marketing)

There are few things more intimidating than picking up a camera when you've never experimented with photography before. Granted, nearly everyone has a camera attached to their phone these days, but that doesn't mean that you know how to wield a DSLR. Clicking one button on a smartphone is great for capturing memories, but those photos may not be high quality enough for your more professional needs, like advertising materials, marketing (like social media posts), and your website. Keep reading for some basic photography lessons to help you point and shoot your own trampoline park. Not looking for photo skills, but for trampoline park POS software? Jump to the bottom of this post.

Find your Subject

Identifying what you're going to be photographing sounds like common knowledge, but you'd be surprised how many people just wing it when it comes to photography. A DSLR takes beautiful pictures (if you know how to use it), but the best photographs also have a great subject that is interesting. That means that plotting out what you want to focus on is very important. Think about your customer and what they want to see from your family entertainment center. If you can set yourself apart from the competition, make sure to highlight that!

For many trampoline parks or family entertainment centers, we have a limited range of lighting. That's totally fine. Understanding that your trampoline park isn't an intimate restaurant will help you shoot it. Those bright lights can help show off all the colors and design of your park, so make sure everything is clean and organized. Clean windows and make sure everything looks in good repair, because bright lights won't let you hide anything.

Having bright lights can also help you photograph everything clearly, since darker locations require more time to photograph. We won't go into it here, but you have a less chance of blurry photos when you have plenty of light. Right on!

Twist the lens of your camera to focus, and make sure to check your photos as you go. Sometimes you think what you want is in focus, but it's actually not. If you aren't comfortable shooting manually, switch your camera to Automatic Focus so you can save yourself a lot of hassle.

Take a lot of photos to make sure you have options. Shoot from far away, but include some closeups, too. Understanding the scale of your park can be really helpful for customers, as can seeing the details of food and other features you offer.

Including models into your pictures can help people understand the scale of your park but, more importantly, how much fun they could have there. Have family and friends over to jump for an hour or two, and snap away. Make sure to catch some cool moves and smiling faces! People connect to photographs with people in them, so if you can offer some of these, do it!

Ultimately, photography is so much more accessible than it used to be. You don't need a darkroom in your basement, and you've had plenty of practice with your smartphone camera. Just take it to the next level when you're working on business, and enjoy yourself.

If you're still looking for information, searching the internet for tutorials can bring you a lot of good options. Just don't let yourself get overwhelmed and remember to ask around. You might know a photographer who will shoot your family entertainment center on the cheap.

Back to School

There are so many good things about back-to-school season. Cooler weather is on its way, and it's a great time to re-evaluate what's working for you. Even though we've long forgotten about our New Year's Resolutions, the first cool breeze of fall pulls us right back into the mood of setting goals and starting over. The busy summer months will soon be slower autumn days, with busy weekends and birthday parties keeping our parks full. It's a good time to make sure your birthday party booking software is up to snuff, and that your trampoline park point of sale system is updated. Transitioning out of summer mode shouldn't be challenging! In fact, it should be fairly simple and straightforward (especially when it comes to your trampoline park POS, which is why we're here for you). Just put on some upbeat music and get ready to crank out your to-do list.

Schedule Maintainance

Finding a good time to fit maintenance into the summer schedule can be tricky, because you don't want to eat into the busiest time of the year. If there's an emergency, that's different, of course. But, preparing in the downtime can help next summer go more smoothly. Fall is a great time to fix up leaky sinks and refresh the foam pit. Think about if anything needs a new coat of paint or replacing.

Switch it Up

Now is a good time to start thinking about big projects, too. If you've always been planning on adding a ropes course or making connections with people who could teach classes at your trampoline park, now is a good time to set those plans in motion. Brainstorm with your team about what works, and what could be working better.

Stay Busy

Ultimately, it's important to stay busy and keep yourself motivated during the school year slow down. Relax and reflect on what went well this summer. Celebrate your accomplishments. Then, make sure to dig in again before you hit a slump.

If you're ready to level-up your point of sale software, you know who to call. Dial +1 (888) 500-2618 to talk to us about how we can help your family entertainment center run smoothly.

Exercise Classes at Your Trampoline Park

There's a certain kind of comfort in doing what is normal–what is expected of you. When people walk into your trampoline park, they probably expect a few things: trampolines (very important at a trampoline park), snacks, and brightly colored padded walls to keep everyone safe. Though they won't necessarily see it, they probably also expect smooth transactions (brought to you by the best family entertainment center point of sale software).

Whoever said you can't branch out though? Everything, even the trampoline park POS can be tweaked and tailored to what you want.

One of the things we love about trampoline parks is that they truly can become what you want them to be. You can switch up the music to appeal to younger kids or older teens. You can addd basketball hoops, foam pits, dodgeball courts, etc. Or you can offer services that people wouldn't have though of, but that get them excited to come see you.

For example, exercise classes might not seem a natural fit at a trampoline park. But, what if you set aside a few hours a week in one corner of the park and see what happens? Call a fitness instructor who is excited about trying something new and rustle up a group of people who are ready to get their endorphins going. Your instructor might even want to bring a scheduled class to your park, which means you'll already have a test group ready to go.

When it comes to your trampoline park, how do you think outside the box?

Updates and New Parks: June

Summer always seems to fly by quickly, but this summer has been especially busy for us here at Active8 POS. We've been traveling all over the world helping companies transition to our trampoline park software and even have facilitated some new park openings, too.

Here's what we've been up to lately:

  • Inflatable Planet is our first inflatables park, and we're so happy to have helped them launch their first location in Newcastle. We're branching out from trampoline parks, and can't wait to see how they use our software to bring more bouncing to England. They have five more locations in the works, so keep your eyes peeled for more Inflatable Planets.
  • We helped Planet 3 launch a new location in the early part of May, and we already have another location in the works!

  • Did you attend IATP's 2nd Annual European Conference & Trade Show? We met so many of you, and had a blast making connections in the international trampoline park community. If you missed it, we look forward to seeing you at the next meet up!

As always, if you're looking to up your game with the best point of sale software in the trampoline park business, give us a call today.

How to Get Your Employees to Feel Invested

Memorial Day signals the real beginning of spring for so many kids throughout the country. Summer vacation is close, and might already be in full swing in your neighborhood. It's a big day for barbecuing and getting ready for summer. So, with the Memorial Day dust settled, how did you feel about your first trampoline park's foray into summer? Maybe you're looking to upgrade your Trampoline Park Point of Sale Software. (If you are, we can help.) But, if you're looking for improvements from your employees, keep reading to learn how to help them feel more invested in what you do.

Make Work Fun

Having a good team that gets along can make all the difference between happy employees and workers who can't wait to punch out. Encouraging your team to get along with a quick get-to-know-you game or party can help them like coming to work a little more. They might not show how happy they are on the outside, but getting a chance to learn a little about each other can really help down the road when they need to switch shifts or pass the time on a quiet morning.

Game-ify It

Encourage good work ethic by showing employees that their extra efforts won't go unrewarded. You don't need to offer a huge bonus to make it worth their while. Buy a gift card every once in a while and have a competition. Who can sell the most grippy socks in a week? Who can make the perfect ice cream cone swirl?

Trampoline Parks Vs. Backyard Trampolines

There are not-so-fun jobs and dream jobs. Thankfully, we like to think we operate under the latter. After all, we work with some amazing companies who are do their best to help people have the best time ever. We're constantly gathering feedback to help your trampoline park run smoothly (which only allows patrons to have an even better time). We know your Trampoline Park Software needs to support your staff and help you reach your goals easier. If you're curious about trampoline parks–maybe you're even thinking about starting one–then keep reading to learn about how they differ from your average backyard trampoline.

The end-all be-all of any successful family entertainment center is safety. Not only is it key to your bottom-line, keeping your patrons safe will keep them happy and improve your relationship with them. When you have customers who trust you, they're more likely to come back more frequently, speak positively about you, and even give you valuable feedback about what might not be working for you. Essentially, you're likely to gain some new friends if you show you're a trustworthy business-owner.

Your average backyard trampoline has getting a bad rap over the last fifteen years. Unsupervised kids have been bouncing each other too high and causing injuries that suck the fun out of that trampoline. Thankfully, improvements like netting and padding on springs have helped reduce injuries. But we still believe that kids (especially young kids) need to be supervised while jumping.

Family entertainment centers with trampolines are designed with safety in mind, but that doesn't mean they're foolproof. Padding and other safety precautions won't do any good if kids aren't supervised. One of the nice things about trampoline parks is kids are usually there with parents. So, while parents can be distracted when kids are in the backyard, they're usually a little more focused when they're at the trampoline park. Plus, many trampoline parks have extra supervision in the form of employees (especially near foam pits).

If you're concerned about safety, then know that Active8's Trampoline Park Point of Sale Software can help you manage overcrowding (which can lead to accidents), and make sure parents know the risks of jumping with our Electronic Liability Waiver system. At the end of the day, safety comes first because only after that's taken care of can the fun happen.

How to Hire for your Family Entertainment Center

It seems like spring has taken its sweet time coming to the U.S., but soon enough summer will be here. And with summer comes summer jobs. And while our trampoline park software can do a lot for your trampoline park, there are some jobs that are best done by a good old-fashioned person.

We fondly remember working our first jobs at sandwich shops, swimming pools, and the now defunct video rental store (RIP Blockbuster). Honestly, we believe that those first jobs give you the confidence to interact with strangers and stretch your math skills, among other things. As an employer, hiring one or a few employees will save your energy and *probably* your sanity. Keep reading for some key things to look for in a new employee and how to hire the right fit for your family entertainment center.

Keep it in the Family

If you have a niece, nephew, or even a kid of your own, consider offering them a place at your family entertainment center. Chances are they'll jump at the chance to earn a little more money, and you're likely to get a more motivated employee than someone who applies from an ad on your website.

Hire the Right Person, and Train

This might be controversial, but we believe personality trumps experience when it comes to most jobs. Certain things can be taught, like how to use specialized trampoline park point of sale software and how you prefer your snack bar organized. Other things, though, like how to be nice to customers and how to get to work on time, can be much much harder to instill. Get a feel for who you're talking to and don't be afraid to train the right person!

Overwhelmed by the thought of running your new business yourself? Get hiring!

Trampolines and Health: Duh, They're Good for You

It shouldn't be ground-breaking news that jumping on a trampoline is good for your health, but it's always a nice reminder for those of us less inclined to visit the gym. Heck, even for those of us who do like the gym it's nice to switch up your routine and avoid hitting that dreaded plateau. What? You think we spend all our time making Trampoline Park Software? We have to stay fit, too!

So, read on for a few reasons why hitting the trampoline park might just be as good as hitting the gym.

It's better cardio than running, especially if you worry about your knees. Repeatedly hitting the pavement is really stressful on joints, especially knees. Some lower-impact exercises include swimming and jumping on a trampoline (because the trampoline absorbs some of the shock). Who's going to try incorporating trampoline exercise classes into their schedules? Us.

It's good for your lymphatic system. Studies show that jumping or "rebounding" on a small trampoline can do wonders for that little-talked-about lymphatic system. Essentially, our lymph circulates throughout our bodies just like blood to remove waste, but without a pump. So how does it move without an organ like the heart to pump? It relies on gravity & muscle contractions, but jumping can really help the whole process along. Here's a sample trampoline routine from

It's fun. You can force yourself to go to yoga, pilates, or Crossfit but if you don't like it, you're not really going to go very often (or try hard). One of the biggest things that trampolines have going for them is the FUN factor. We think this is why trampoline parks are growing so fast. This article mentions a study where people even reported being less physically exhausted after jumping on a trampoline. Even though they reached the same level of intensity, they reported it as being less difficult (probably because it's so fun). Sounds pretty cool to us!

Time to go bounce!
